H otel distribution system A hotel distribution system is a plan of action for selling rooms of course profitably by way of a variety of channels. A blend of direct stations, such as a hotel's website, and indirect channels such as online travel agents (OTAs), Worldwide Distribution Systems (GDS) and wholesalers are typically used. On-line distribution for hotels is defined by the transfer of guest and booking data between (online) booking platforms and hotel systems. This data includes reservation delivery and availability/rate updates, but also guest and transaction information. The goal is to increase visibility with consumers to push occupancy, target the right section of travelers to ensure positive reviews and maximize major operating profit per available room (GOPPAR) to ensure financial health.
